Each day fans can attend "matinee shows" at Marley's Gotham Grill and a "post-show party" on Saturday night, also at Marley's. Doors open at 6:15 at Centenary each night, with music throughout the nights, and headliners scheduled for around 9 p.m.
The 5th Annual Blues Bash continues its tradition of bringing the best national acts to the region, with this year's headliners Royal Southern Brotherhood (Saturday) and Samantha Fish (Friday).
Before they even hit a chord, The Royal Southern Brotherhood has your attention. In the US South, where music is religion, two rock 'n' roll bloodlines tower above all others. In the saloon bars from Mississippi to Maryland, mere mention of the Allman and Neville Brothers casts a magic spell. With a lineup comprising both the iconic Cyril Neville and Devon Allman, The Royal Southern Brotherhood come pre-loaded with expectations. Don't worry: they can match them. The family tree might be auspicious, but this band trades on talent, not genealogy. It's not about rock history: it's about the here-and-now. The lineup has talent to burn with Neville, Devon Allman, the son of Gregg Allman, and don't forget blues all-star Mike Zito, as well as bassist Charlie Wooten and drummer Yonrico Scott, both heavyweight names in their own right, with Charlie's bass chops celebrated on the Southern jam scene for his sets with the Woods Brothers, and Yonrico hitting the skins for luminaries including the Derek Trucks Band, Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers themselves.
Who can forget the Samantha's performance last year at Centenary, when she rocked the amazed house in scintillating fashion? It'll be more of the same as she rips songs this time around from her newest CD, Black Wind Howlin'. The Kansas City-based Fish has been on a major roll ever since she teamed up with Cassie Taylor and Dani Wilde on the 2011 release, Girls with Guitars, and fueled by the trio's Blues Caravan tour of Europe and the U.S., created an international buzz in the blues world. Later that same year she recorded Runaway, her first solo album.
Super supports acts - including Bob Lanza Band and also Shuffle Jump & Moan - will round out the two nights at Centenary, along with other related festivities around Hackettstown still to be announced.
Major support for the Blues Bash also comes from Marley's Gotham Grill, Good Impressions Printing and Mailing, Kennedy Events, WNTI, United Jersey Blues Network, Cathy Miller Photography, HTVProductions, Custom Sign Source, and Karmabridge Acupuncture & Herbals.
