The Hackettstown BID has announced its first ever Scholarship Award. The Hackettstown BID Scholarship Award is awarded to a graduating Hackettstown High School Student who is attending college to pursue a career in business. The student will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
The Hackettstown BID, as a representative of the local business community, would like to show its continued support of our young people, and in particular our graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is intended to help defray college expenses.
The scholarship award is the idea of one of the BID's Board Members, Claudia Conway. The events committee was asked to come out with ways to give back to the community through one of our events and Claudia, who represents Skylands Bank, came up with the idea of doing something for our young people. After some discussion, the scholarship award was created. Claudia will be on hand in June to help award the scholarship to a deserving Hackettstown High School senior at their scholarship awards ceremony.
The monies awarded in this scholarship are being provided through one of the BID's more popular annual events, the Stiger Street Cruise Night. Through the entrance fees and donations collected at this event, the money collected will be earmarked for the annual scholarship fund.
The 2010 Hackettstown BID Scholarship Award winner will be named in the coming weeks and we are hopeful that you'll come support this fund by attending the Stiger Street Cruise Nights this year.
